Sophros Recovery is a veteran-owned, veteran-operated business founded with a mission to support our service members and their families. The need for mental and behavioral health services among veterans is significant, and it’s a cause close to our founder’s heart.

Nick Padlo, a combat veteran of both Afghanistan and Iraq, understands firsthand the challenges of returning home, transitioning out of the military, and facing the mental health struggles that often follow, including trauma, depression, and addiction. Sophros Recovery was created in part to honor his journey and the many fellow veterans lost to mental health issues, substance use, and suicide.

Veteran-owned and proud to accept Tricare insurance

One of the most meaningful ways we can serve our veteran community is by making care accessible, and that starts with the insurance we accept. After months of working to become an approved provider, we proudly accept Tricare insurance for our outpatient treatment, intensive outpatient program (IOP), and partial hospitalization program (PHP).

We believe in the principle that no one gets left behind. Returning home from service can mean facing new battles—against PTSD, anxiety, depression, and addiction. These struggles are real, and seeking support is a sign of strength. At Sophros, we see you and stand with you.

What is Tricare?

Tricare is the health care program for:

  • Uniformed service members and their families
  • National Guard and Armed Forces Reserve members and their families
  • Survivors, former spouses, and Medal of Honor recipients
  • Others registered in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS)

Types of beneficiaries include (benefits vary by category):

  • Sponsors: Active duty, retired, and Guard/Reserve members
  • Family members: Spouses and children registered in DEERS
  • Retired service members and their families

Tricare offers several health care plans to meet the different needs of its beneficiaries.

Accessing Tricare benefits for mental health and addiction care

If you are seeking Tricare addiction treatment or mental health services outside a military hospital or clinic, a referral is required for non-emergency care. This applies to services like therapy or treatment at civilian institutions such as Sophros Recovery.

As an active-duty service member (ADSM), accessing care within the Tricare network is simple. Just get a referral and pre-authorization, and you’ll be on your way to receiving the care you need.
